I have tried many kinds of seeds to make the best food plots for deer. This year it is a combo of wheat, white clover, rape and 7 top. Even with all the acorns we have the deer are coming to the food plot. Looking real close I can see that they are mainly eating the clover and wheat. I also have a half acre of corn planted and they do go to it some.

What is your favorite plants to have in a deer food plot? Let me know for I am always game to try another.

Happy hunting,

Dwight

Well, more rain in Tennessee this weekend but I have to work anyway. All this rain has been very good for this food plot because it is on top of a hill and can get pretty dry up there. We have had 2 frost and it did no harm at all. Everything is growing very well and with the muzzleloading deer season only a week away I am getting excited.

This morning I returned to my food plot and noticed that it was doing very well. We have had the rainiest October here in Tennessee on record. I just had one small buck come through looking for does and didn't stop to eat but this is an evening spot to hunt. I will return this afternoon but tomorrow I will be back in the woods where the acorns are. Happy hunting.

Archery season and a week long muzzleloader season has now come and went and I have not bagged a buck yet. The food plot is doing very well and the deer (10 does at one time and 7 different bucks) seem to like it. The rut is on and I still feel that it is a matter of time and one of the girls will bring in her date and he will have a nice set of horns. The best buck so far is 13 or 14 inch 8 pointer. He needs one more year.
