I've studied these creatures for many years and they have a way of knowing danger like a six sense, there always on guard even though they don't seem that way. I've been blessed with where I've grown up to be around this enviroment most of my life. I would even say some of my encounters over the years have been fun and interesting, as well a little scary. Having a bull moose at a few feet away can make anybodys heart race. I've had deer almost run me over but what I've learned the most over the years is a deers vocalization, from a simple doe grunt to a fawn bleat, or a bucks low grunts.
It's taken time but with practice have brought animals to me either from a distance or a few hundred yards either way it worked.
Once with my wife we watched a cow moose at 600 yds feeding in a swamp, she probably new we where there, but with a few high noted cow calls had her coming like a frieght train threw the bush right at us, really exciting walked within 30 yds of us.
Deer are very curious animals and will come in to see what the noise is about as long as wind is in your favour chances are you'll get a look, some times I've called them across from the opposite slope of a mountain.
Anybody else call in there animals so you can get a closer look, specially for bow hunting, I like to see the whites of there eyes, thats excitement.
